The *16384* exhibition, created for the New Taipei City Art Center, is based on a dialogue between the internationally renowned Taiwanese painter and calligrapher Tong Yang Tze and the ACD studio. The artist provided the studio with a series of artwork fragments sharing a common format—that of traditional Chinese paper—which the studio incorporated into a scenography featuring seven large-scale motorized mobiles. Each mobile can assume four distinct orientations, resulting in a total of 16,384 possible combinations that play with the black-and-white contrast of the paintings across three-dimensional space. While the mobiles bear a resemblance to certain works of kinetic art, their primary purpose is to facilitate a unique method of recomposition.
