For the “Make it Design” collection by Eyrolles, Kuei Yu Ho and Patrice Mugnier have conducted an in-depth study of how digital technology has transformed the practices of various players in contemporary design—spanning object design, urban design, architecture, scenography, museum design, performing arts, and brand design. The result is a comprehensive work aimed at both professionals and students. The first section introduces the artistic, conceptual, and technological issues that have radically reshaped how artists and designers approach creation since the early 20th century. The second section offers a detailed thematic analysis of contemporary projects that make effective use of the concept of interaction. Far from merely employing technology, these projects reflect on production methods and new modes of use associated with the field. Finally, the book presents five interviews that contrast different perspectives on the creative process: those of an artist, a designer, a scenographer, a programmer, and an engineer.
