“reset_” is a short story written by Patrice Mugnier for *M42* magazine. Following a previous article on the theme of utopia and dystopia published in *HAS* magazine, he was invited to further explore this topic, choosing speculative fiction as a counterpoint. “Reset” serves as a fable about the future of our civilization in the age of emerging global artificial intelligence. The story is accompanied by a series of ten illustrations, taking advantage of the advent of AI-generated imagery in 2023.
