Heartbeats lights
*Heart Beats Lights* stages an encounter between the intimate dimension of the human being and the collective dimension of urban space. The installation takes the form of a nine-meter-tall sculpture. Reinterpreting the conventions of street furniture, it features an array of monochrome LEDs complemented by a sound system designed for vertical spatialization. When idle, the sculpture displays variations that harmonize with the scale of the surrounding landscape. At the base of the structure, heart-rate sensors allow two participants to take control of the artwork. Their heartbeats are amplified, serving as the rhythmic foundation for a light and sound composition—a kind of ritual in which the participants’ bodies become elements connected to the sculpture as a whole.
